Each Scholarship is currently worth $6,000 tax free, paid in two tranches: the first in April at the presentation ceremony, and the second on successful completion of the first semester providing the recipient is continuing their studies at university or TAFE (the latter at Degree, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level).

The Sarik Ariyak Memorial Scholarship was introduced as an incentive for first year Atatürk Scholars who achieve a minimum Distinction average to apply for funding for their second year of tertiary study.

Criteria

  • You must be under 25 years old in the year of application.

 

  • Be an Australian citizen

 

  • At least one parent with Republic of Turkey ancestry

 

  • Must have been accepted to pursue higher education at a University or TAFE within Australia. Valid for Diploma or Advance Diploma courses at TAFE

 

  • Requires students to start their first year of university or TAFE education in the year of application and to study full time

 

  • You must be able to prove necessitous circumstances, such as financial, physical, emotional, medical or environmental hardship. This would normally be evidenced by being in receipt of or being eligible to receive Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, DVA assistance, or a similar Australian Government benefit.

What you must provide

  • A passport style photo of yourself

 

  • Your Birth Certificate and if born overseas, a copy of your Citizenship certificate

 

  • Documentary proof of your entitlement to a Government benefit or a statement detailing your necessitous circumstances

 

  • Documentary evidence of your Republic of Turkey ancestry

 

  • A school reference

 

  • HSC or similar certificate and a notice of your ATAR or TER

 

  • Copy of your University offer and acceptance TAFE enrolment

 

  • When uploading files you must use only: jpg, png, doc, or pdf formats
